About Leighton Fun Runners
Leighton Fun Runners began in 1983 as a group of friends in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, England. Road, trail and cross-country running sit alongside a strong social programme, with members pursuing everything from a first 5K to longer-distance challenges. England Athletics named it East Region Club of the Year in 2022, recognising its welcome, volunteering and community work.
Tuesday club runs offer different paces and distances, with a monthly timed 5K followed by tea and cake. Thursday sessions focus on improvement. Couch to 5K courses provide a separate starting point for complete beginners, who are encouraged to build up before joining regular runs.
Membership is for people aged eighteen and over, despite broader all-ages wording elsewhere on the site. Trial runs can be arranged through the club, and individual England Athletics registration is optional. The public Leighton 10K raises money for a chosen local charity, while club trips, themed runs and social gatherings keep participation varied.
