About Kimberworth Striders
Kimberworth Striders was founded in 1986 in the Kimberworth area of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. Its programme is built around running: winter road routes give way to more off-road outings in summer, with tempo work, hills and speed sessions alongside steady runs. A graded club championship has operated since 1993, giving members a competition that is not simply a contest between the fastest runners.
The club meets at the Droppingwell pub on Upper Wortley Road for its main Tuesday and Thursday sessions. Its local event programme includes names familiar to South Yorkshire runners, such as the Kimmy Kanter, Stan Bagshaw Toffee Run and Santa Special. The website also provides a Walk to Run route and membership information. Newcomers can use the shared club email to ask about an appropriate group and the current schedule. The pub is a training meeting point, not a club-owned athletics facility.
