About Kimberley & District Striders
Kimberley and District Striders, usually known as KADS, was founded in March 1985 by a group led by Bob Terry. Based in Kimberley, Nottinghamshire, England, it attracts runners from nearby communities including Eastwood, Giltbrook, Nuthall and Watnall. Participation and enjoyment have remained important alongside competition.
The club developed the Goose Fair Gallop 10K and helped establish local league racing. Its history remembers Ray Johnson's participation in every London Marathon from 1981 to 2006. Current community activity includes the Colliers Wood Canter and support for Eastwood Foodbank, with volunteers contributing beyond their own training.
KADS uses Kimberley Institute Cricket Club as its base, with road, trail, hill, interval and track sessions on its calendar. Adults aged eighteen and over can arrange three free tasters through the secretary. The joining page asks newcomers to be able to run about three miles without stopping; it offers paced groups and support rather than a complete beginner's run-walk course.
