About Keighley & Craven AC
Keighley & Craven Athletics Club brings together two strands of local running history. Keighley Road Runners began in 1984 and Keighley Hill Runners followed in 1986; the clubs merged in 1998. Road racing and the Yorkshire fells remain equally important parts of its character, reflected in events such as the Haworth Hobble, Yorkshireman off-road races and Bronte Way Fell Race.
The club meets at Carlton Keighley in Utley, offering junior athletics and adult groups from Ready to Run through to more demanding speed, hill and endurance sessions. Regrouping helps runners of different paces train together, and newcomers can try a first session before joining. Volunteers also support local charities and organise the club's races. Its history remembers Jimmy Ashworth's achievements in the predecessor Road Runners' colours, rather than presenting those performances as belonging to the later merged club.
