About Istead & Ifield Harriers
Istead and Ifield Harriers was formed in June 1992 in the Gravesend area of Kent, England. Its name comes from Istead Rise and Ifield, where founding members lived. Road running and cross-country are central activities, with some members also taking part in ultras, track competition and triathlon.
The Harriers took over organising the North Downs Run in 2004. The thirty-kilometre event has become an important shared project for runners and volunteers. Club reports describe race surpluses supporting local causes, including Darent Valley Hospital, Beams and equipment for Gravesend junior parkrun.
The Old Gravesendians Rugby Club has been the headquarters since November 2021, with summer off-road outings also using the Cascades area and routes towards Shorne. Monday and Wednesday groups cater for different paces. Prospective members should email the membership contact and complete the taster form before attending one of the three introductory sessions.
