About Isle Of Wight RR AC
Isle of Wight Road Runners was founded in Ryde in 1988 and later moved its base to Newport, Isle of Wight, England. The club history records moves to Medina Leisure Centre in 2005 and the Riverside Centre in 2016. Its current homepage instead directs Thursday runners to Newport Social Club, so those earlier venues should not be treated as today's universal meeting place.
The club rebuilt during the 2000s and developed its Hampshire Road Race League teams. Its history associates Paul Cameron with a successful period beginning in 2008, and records Dave Cass completing his two-hundredth half marathon in 2010. The St George's 10 was added to the club's race activity in 2017.
New runners can attend up to four trial sessions before deciding whether to join. The membership page specifies runners over seventeen and provides an application form. Group running, club races and league competition sit alongside the social side of membership; newcomers should check the latest announcements for the appropriate group and start.
