About Ipswich Triathlon Club
Ipswich Triathlon Club serves Ipswich and the wider Suffolk area of England, with members also coming from neighbouring counties. Its history distinguishes an original club formed in 1986, which later dissolved, from the revival in 1988. John Gabriel, previously founder of Felixstowe Tri Squad, is credited with much of that renewed activity.
Informal training triathlons became known as the Sizzler Series, with barbecues helping turn competition into a social occasion. Over time the club developed coaching and a substantial event programme. Its history includes Culford Triathlon, Alton Duathlon and Framlingham Junior Triathlon, while Culford remains a featured event on the current website.
Today's programme includes coached swimming, group rides and run training, with support for newcomers as well as experienced long-distance athletes. The club's online joining link and general enquiry form are the best routes for discussing membership and current sessions.
