About Ipswich Jaffa RC
Ipswich JAFFA grew from a council jogging course in Chantry Park led by coach Terry Gould. Runners wanted to carry on after the course finished, and the club was formed on 26 September 1977. Its name stands for Jogging And Fitness For All, reflecting the original aim of making running accessible to local people.
Club nights at Northgate Sports Club bring together groups running at different paces and distances, with beginners and juniors also catered for. JAFFA introduced its Ekiden Relay in 1992, with six runners sharing the marathon distance. Its history records five consecutive national Today’s Runner cross-country team titles from 1990 to 1994, achieved through a strong emphasis on whole-club participation.
