About Invicta East Kent AC
Invicta East Kent AC is based in Canterbury, Kent, England. Its history records the merger of Canterbury AC and Thanet AC into Invicta AC in January 1969, followed by amalgamation with East Kent AC in 1984. That second union brought together a strong distance-running tradition and a broader track-and-field club.
The club moved to the Canterbury Academy site in 2000 after earlier bases at the University of Kent. In October 2026 it celebrated its refurbished blue track, crediting the work of volunteers, parents, coaches, committee members and local supporters. The facility serves junior, senior and masters athletes and provides a home for training and competition.
Children can start from seven, learning the foundations before progressing to suitable event groups. Adults are placed according to experience and ability, and the club says ability alone is not a reason for rejection. Prospective members must contact the membership secretary before attending a trial rather than turn up unannounced.
