About Instinctive Sports
Instinctive Sports, also known as Plympton Instinctive Sports, began in 1984 when a group interested in keeping fit started meeting informally in Plymouth, Devon, England. Enjoyment, participation and encouraging people into running shaped the club from the outset. Its membership includes runners with varied experience, alongside a walking section.
Tuesday club nights meet at the sixth-form centre at Hele's School on Seymour Road in Plympton. Longer Sunday outings use different starts around Plymouth and Dartmoor, with additional Thursday runs arranged locally. New members, from beginners to experienced runners, can use the club's enquiry form to discuss which activity suits them.
Members enter events from ten kilometres to ultramarathons, while an active social calendar helps build friendships away from race day. The club has supported causes including Guide Dogs and St Luke's Hospice. Its organising history includes the Guy Fawkes ten-mile run, Sam Penny Scenic Challenge and Plym Valley Challenge; these are historical events, not a claim that registration remains open today.
