About Ilkley Harriers AC
The modern Ilkley Harriers was formed on 1 May 1986 in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, England, following training runs organised by local Valley Striders members. Earlier athletics in the town is documented, but the present club dates its foundation to 1986. A junior section followed in 2003.
Its hall of fame records mountain-running internationals including Tom Adams, Euan Brennan and Georgia Malir. The club also organises the Ilkley Moor Fell Race, Ilkley Trail Race, Pete Shields 10K and Ilkley Incline, linking its competitive activity to the surrounding moors and local roads.
Tuesday groups suit runners able to cover about 5K, with regrouping along the way. Newcomers can try several weeks after registering their details; the sign-up page gives each meeting place. Juniors aged eight to sixteen have a separate joining process. Track work, hills and circuits extend the weekly programme.
