About Huntingdonshire AC
Huntingdonshire Athletics Club traces its lasting foundation to 19 October 1967, after two earlier attempts to sustain a club in Huntingdon. Terry Cole helped turn the new organisation into an active training and competition group. The name became Huntingdon Athletics Club in 1970 and Huntingdonshire Athletics Club in 1987.
Today the club is based at St Ives Outdoor Centre on California Road in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, England. Its programme spans track and field, road running, cross-country and indoor Sportshall. The move from a cinder track to a synthetic surface in 1989 was an important step in the development of its facilities.
Road runners should contact the designated road-running enquiry contact before joining Tuesday or Thursday training. Track-and-field enquiries go to the coaching contact, with junior eligibility starting at nine. Many junior groups have waiting lists; parents should confirm availability rather than arrive expecting an immediate place. The club also welcomes appropriately checked and trained volunteers to support coaching and club activity.
