Houghton Harriers & Athletics Club was formed in 1958 and draws members from Houghton-le-Spring, Sunderland and County Durham, England. Early member Ernie Pomfret represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the steeplechase at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
