About Holcombe Harriers
Holcombe Harriers is a multidiscipline club based around Holcombe Brook, near Ramsbottom and Bury in England. Members take part in fell, trail and road running as well as cycling, mountain biking, duathlon and triathlon. Thursday runs start from the Hare and Hounds, while additional swimming and cycling sessions are arranged informally.
The club asks newcomers to be comfortable running about five miles continuously before joining a training run. Routes and conditions vary between road and fell, and winter outings require suitable visibility equipment and clothing. The general club email is the best place to confirm arrangements before attending; the separate beginner-group phone mentioned on the website is not a Holcombe enquiry number.
Local events include the Holcombe Two Towers Fell Race. Members also created the Andy Haines Memorial Round to remember their late clubmate, who died in November 2024. The approximately thirty-two-mile route connects Holcombe Moor and Scout Moor, passing a memorial cairn and the plaque near Peel Tower, and can be explored in sections rather than only as a single long run.
