About Haywards Heath Harriers
Haywards Heath Harriers developed from a young cross-country group in 1965 and formally affiliated in February 1966, the year it recognises as its foundation. The club in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, England, later expanded into track and field, road running and other endurance disciplines. Daley Thompson began his athletics career with the Harriers before becoming a double Olympic decathlon champion. The club celebrated its sixtieth anniversary in 2026.
Whitemans Green near Cuckfield is central to summer athletics, with Warden Park used for winter training. The programme also includes road and trail racing, the South Downs Way Relay and cross-country. Adults can arrange trial sessions, while young athletes have a separate joining route. The club is supporting the proposed Whitemans Green Active Track, an all-weather community facility; this remains a development project, not a completed track advertised for training. Newcomers receive their meeting instructions before attending, rather than travelling to the older directory correspondence address.
