About Handsworth Roadhogs
Handsworth Roadhogs was formed in 1985 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, gaining Amateur Athletic Association affiliation the following year. The club combines road running with fell and off-road activity: its road grand prix has a companion Wildhogs competition, and members also take part in inter-club cross-country and relay events.
Regular Monday and Wednesday club runs start from Handsworth Grange Sports Centre. Leaders adapt the pace to those attending, using shorter and longer groups where possible, with stops and runbacks to keep the group together. Separate beginner and improver activity helps runners progress towards these outings. The club also stages the Handsworth Hobble and Waverley Dash and has supported other Sheffield races through marshalling.
Visitors can try a run before submitting the membership form. Check the club's current route announcement and use the sports-centre car park entrance on Beaver Hill Road, not the school entrance on Handsworth Grange Road. The published entrance postcode differs from the building's postal address, so the access instructions matter more than following the school address alone.
