About Guildford & Godalming AC

Guildford & Godalming Athletic Club brings together track and field athletes and endurance runners in Guildford, Surrey, England. The present club was formed by a merger in 1952: Godalming and District had begun in 1924, while Guildford Athletic Club was established in 1950. Its black and green colours come from the Godalming club.

The club trained at Bannister’s Farm before moving, via an interim home at Urnfield, to the Spectrum track when it opened in 1993. A trackside clubhouse followed in 2004. Its history includes Olympic modern pentathlon champion Stephanie Cook and former president Austin Playfoot, who carried the Olympic torch in both 1948 and 2012.

Junior, senior track and field, and endurance groups have different arrangements. Junior membership normally starts in school Year 7, with earlier waiting-list registration possible; parents should check availability before applying. The membership and contacts pages explain how to approach the appropriate group. The Spectrum is the track base, while endurance training and competitions can use other locations.
