Goyt Valley Striders is based in Whaley Bridge, Derbyshire, England. Its running programme makes use of the Goyt Valley and surrounding Peak District, combining road routes with trails and fell running.
Tuesday outings divide into five ability groups and typically last an hour to an hour and a half. Thursday sessions focus on hills or speed, while summer away runs, pub finishes and Saturday coffee add a social side. The usual local meeting point is the Canal Wharf car park on Tom Brad’s Croft, although away runs start elsewhere.
The club organises the Buxworth 5 road race and the Whaley Waltz and Eccles Pike fell races. Members also have informal challenges such as Terry’s Race and the Magic Mile, where predicting a finishing time matters more than simply being quickest.
