About Gateshead Harriers & AC
Gateshead Harriers began in 1904 as Gateshead St Mary’s Church Running Club. Women joined in 1951, and the club developed into a home for track and field athletes as well as road and cross-country runners.
Today its base is Gateshead International Stadium on Neilson Road. It supports athletes from age eight through to veterans, with training groups across the athletics disciplines. Its hall of fame connects that local club programme to some of the best-known names in British athletics.
