About Ely Runners
Ely Runners was founded in 1985 in the cathedral city of Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. Training from the Paradise Centre connects city streets with the surrounding Fenland paths, with intervals and hills balanced by steadier group runs and social outings.
The club's competitive programme includes the Frostbite Friendly League, summer 5K races, internal handicaps and the New Year's Eve 10K. Its history records former second-claim member Clare Hallissey's progression to the 2012 Olympic marathon and Craig Holgate's 2013 UKA 100-kilometre title.
A beginner programme launched in 2012 helps new runners build confidence before moving into regular club training. Juniors aged nine to sixteen have separate sessions and can arrange two tasters with the junior team. Adult membership enquiries go to the membership secretary, who can advise on the most suitable training group and current joining arrangements.
