About Eastbourne Rovers AC
Eastbourne Rovers traces its roots to a cycling club formed in 1894, with a harriers section following around 1896. Athletics and cycling eventually became separate clubs in 1971. For the athletics club, a major later step was the move to Eastbourne Sports Park's all-weather track in 2000. Its historical runners include 1950s international distance athlete Pat Ranger.
Today the volunteer-led East Sussex club supports juniors from age nine, seniors and masters across sprints, distance running, jumps and throws. Tuesday and Thursday track sessions are complemented by road-running groups and cross-country competition. The club added a Couch to 5K programme and its own trackside cabin in 2022. Newcomers can arrange a trial through the enquiry form, choosing the subject that best matches their interest; road groups may meet away from the Sports Park.
