About East End Road Runners

East End Road Runners began in 1984 as the Embarrassed Joggers, meeting at Woodside School in Plaistow. After moving to the Terence McMillan Stadium in 1992, the group became Newham Joggers; it adopted its present name in 1994.

The club remains rooted in Newham, east London, England. Its regular programme combines Tuesday track sessions with Thursday road running and longer Sunday outings. Members also take part in cross-country and ultra-distance events, while volunteering helps sustain club activities and local races.

Community provision extends beyond the usual training groups. In autumn 2025, council funding supported a series of free strength and conditioning classes. Adult newcomers can arrange a trial through the club’s website before joining. The Terence McMillan Stadium at Newham Leisure Centre is the training base, and the club’s enquiry form provides a direct route to volunteers.
