About DH Runners
DH Runners began in 2012 when friends who regularly ran along the river invited other Carlisle runners to join them. Its name reflects their links with Denton Holme, in Cumbria, England. A committee and England Athletics affiliation followed in 2013.
The regular Tuesday and Thursday groups meet at Rome Street car park. Tuesday options cover roughly 10K or eight miles, while Thursday offers shorter outings. The club also holds a monthly track session at the Sheepmount and a Sunday social combining running or walking with refreshments. New runners should check the published guidance for their chosen group; the Tuesday 10K group asks participants to be able to finish that distance within seventy-five minutes.
Membership options distinguish affiliated racing membership from non-competitive participation. Sixteen- and seventeen-year-olds have separate junior options and must attend with an adult. Club championships, cross-country, charity involvement and the DH River Run give members opportunities to race, volunteer and support the wider Carlisle running community.
