About Derwent Runners (Derby)
Derwent Runners was formed in 1985 by runners from the Allestree area of Derby, England. Early meeting places included Markeaton Park and the West End Community Centre. After further moves, the club settled at Derby Rugby Club on Haslams Lane.
The weekly programme combines Tuesday club runs with Thursday hill sessions, while summer pub runs take members onto different routes. Couch to 5K courses offer a starting point for new runners, and the club’s Run and Talk activities add a social focus. Cross-country and the club Grand Prix give those who enjoy racing a shared calendar.
New runners should contact the club before a trial and complete its registration form so leaders can arrange a suitable group. Sessions are booked through the club’s linked booking service. Membership is available either as club membership alone or with athletics affiliation, allowing people to choose according to how they intend to run and compete.
