About Derwent AC Cockermouth
Derwent Athletic Club is a running club in Cockermouth, Cumbria, England. Road running forms much of its weekly programme, with cross-country, fell racing and off-road sessions giving members opportunities to explore the western Lake District too.
Tuesday and Thursday training includes longer runs, hills, intervals and shorter efforts. Town sessions start from Cockermouth Leisure Centre; summer sessions may use Cockermouth School’s track or other locations. The calendar is shared through Spond, and runners should confirm the meeting place rather than assume every outing starts in town. The club specifically asks members not to use the leisure-centre car park.
Prospective members can try a couple of sessions. The club asks runners to be able to cover about five miles at their own pace and makes clear that regular attendance and racing are optional. There is no separate junior section: younger participants have specific age and adult-accompaniment arrangements. Monthly socials, handicap runs and fell weekends provide other ways to get involved.
