About Dereham Runners AC
Dereham Runners AC began on 3 April 1986 after interest gathered around Gill Boucher’s Track & Field shop in Nelson Place. Boucher and coach Rob Kinge arranged the first meeting, attended by around 25 people. The club soon settled at Dereham Rugby Club, where a makeshift running circuit around the pitch served as its early track.
A move to Neatherd High School followed in 1995, giving members access to a grass track and indoor space. The club’s programme now includes senior training, junior athletics, cross-country and its own road races. Its published history follows that growth from a small local group to a club travelling to events elsewhere in Britain and to Dereham’s twin town in France.
