About Denmead Striders
Denmead Striders brings together runners from Denmead, Waterlooville and the surrounding Hampshire countryside in England. Members take part in the Hampshire Road Race League and Southern Cross Country League, while club handicaps and winter time trials provide more local targets.
The club revived the Denmead 10K on a new route in October 2014, following an agreement with Portsmouth Joggers, which had organised the earlier event. Its course uses country lanes north of Denmead, making the race part of the club’s connection with the South Downs landscape.
Training changes with the seasons. The published winter 2026–27 programme meets at Waterlooville swimming pool on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Newcomers can try a session, and the first Wednesday of each month has a particular welcome for new members. Coaches help runners find others of a similar pace; racing is optional. Check the current programme before travelling, since the summer Denmead meeting point is different.
