About Croydon Harriers
Croydon Harriers is a community athletics club in South Norwood, Croydon, England. Its history describes the revival of local athletics after the First World War, with young runners training from a hut near Croydon Airport in 1921. The Croydon Harriers name was agreed in September 1925.
Today, Croydon Sports Arena on Albert Road is the base for junior development, sprints, endurance, high jump and throwing groups. The club also competes in road running and cross-country. Its hall of fame includes Olympians Martyn Rooney and James Dasaolu, both associated with the club during their development as athletes.
New athletes should enquire with their age and preferred events before booking a session. Coaches can then direct them to a suitable group; the under-ten programme uses pre-booked blocks and a waiting list. The first session is free under the published guidance, and ongoing sessions are booked through the club.

Martyn Rooney
Former junior athlete, club hall of fame
Developed at Croydon under Mike Fleet before specialising in the 400m; the club records his Olympic appearances in 2008, 2012 and 2016 and two European 400m titles.
James Dasaolu
Historical athlete, club hall of fame
Trained and competed for Croydon before moving to Loughborough; represented Great Britain in the 100m at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics.
