About Croft Ambrey RC

Croft Ambrey Running Club was formed in 1982 by five friends in north Herefordshire, England. Its history traces the idea to the 1981 Offa’s Dyke Race, when a veteran’s prize highlighted the value of belonging to an affiliated club. Croft Castle and its Iron Age hillfort gave the club a home and its name.

Tuesday and Thursday coached sessions move around the area, including Croft Castle, Mortimer Forest, Shobdon, Wigmore and Brampton Bryan. Repeated efforts let runners of different speeds train together. Members take part in road, trail, fell and cross-country races, with an internal handicap series and a championship spanning several types of running.

New adult runners can try three sessions after completing the club disclaimer; weekly meeting points appear on the website and official social pages. Juniors aged eight to sixteen train at Wigmore High School on term-time Mondays. Places are limited, so parents should contact the coaches before attending and complete the junior registration form.
