About Claremont Road Runners

Claremont Road Runners was established in 1981 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The club welcomes runners aged 18 and over and uses Newcastle University’s Sports and Fitness Centre on Wallace Street as its city-centre base. Its programme combines road running, off-road routes and friendly club competition.

Monday outings explore varied routes, typically around seven miles with shorter alternatives. Wednesday sessions include intervals, hills and bootcamp-style training for different abilities. Quarterly handicap races move between the Town Moor in summer and the Quayside in winter, followed by time together socially. The club also organises the Weetslade Relay.

New runners can complete the trial-session form and attend a few sessions without committing to membership. The enquiries team can explain the groups, changing facilities and current meeting arrangements. Published secretary and welfare contacts provide separate routes for administrative and safeguarding questions.
