About City Of Portsmouth AC
City of Portsmouth Athletic Club was formed in 1993 when Portsmouth AC and Portsmouth, Fareham & District AC merged. The histories of its predecessors reach back into the city’s nineteenth-century running and cycling clubs, giving the present organisation roots much older than its current name.
The club is based at the Mountbatten Centre on Alex Way in Portsmouth. It caters for athletes from age eight, with no upper age limit, and combines track and field with cross-country and road running. Its published history follows the development of both men’s and women’s athletics locally, while the current programme gives new members a route into coached training and club competition.
