About City Of Plymouth AC
City of Plymouth Athletic Club trains at Brickfields in Devonport, Plymouth, England, a sporting site now known as Foulston Park. Its history reaches back through Devonport YMCA Harriers, recorded in county competition in the 1920s, and Devonport AC, the name adopted in 1956. The City of Plymouth name followed in 1968; these are stages in a longer story rather than one certain founding date.
The club’s archive records rapid Southern League progress in the early 1970s and the conversion of the cinder track to an all-weather surface in 1984. More recent investment in 2021 renewed the six-lane track and associated facilities. Today the programme spans sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, endurance and cross-country, supported by volunteer coaches and officials.
Training groups range from Panthers for younger children to junior development and senior squads. New members are directed to a 14-day trial registration before choosing a paid membership option. Use the club’s enquiry form to find the right group and confirm arrangements; guest and pay-as-you-go sessions have their own booking requirements.
