About Christchurch Runners
Christchurch Runners began in 1982 as Plessey Christchurch Runners and Joggers, a works club in Christchurch, Dorset, England. It later opened to the wider community and remains a section of East Christchurch Sports and Social Club on Grange Road. Its emphasis is on running together and making club events competitive for different abilities through handicaps.
Monday social runs usually cover about 5K, with Wednesday training events and seasonal Friday longer runs also listed. Most outings start at the social club, although summer Monday routes can begin elsewhere. These are organised running activities: the club explicitly says it does not provide coaching sessions.
Newcomers can try a few runs before deciding to join. There is no dedicated children’s programme; under-18 participation remains the responsibility of a parent or guardian who must also belong to the club, and children under eleven cannot run alone. The club’s Christmas 10K and Hoburne 5 have supported good causes, while non-running volunteers can help with timekeeping.
