About Chippenham Harriers

Chippenham Harriers is based at Chippenham Sports Club on Bristol Road in Chippenham, Wiltshire, England. Its programme combines coached efforts, strength and conditioning, social running and youth sessions. Members also organise the Chippenham Half Marathon, Slaughterford 9, Lacock Relays and the River Run.

The club’s history is closely tied to volunteers. Honorary lifetime members include Dave Woodman, who promoted the Harriers through his Wessex Runner shop, and Chris Constable, who established and coached the junior squad. Richard Schofield captained the club’s first Cotswold Way Relay team in 1996; the following year the Harriers won the mixed category.

Adult sessions are for ages 17 and over, with a separate Wednesday youth group for ages 8–16. Youth membership currently has a waiting list. Friday pack runs help runners already comfortable over 5K build distance, while Thursday runs suit those ready for around five miles. New runners should use the annual beginners programme; the next course and individual session locations need checking before arrival.
