About Chesterfield & District AC
Chesterfield & District Athletics Club was formed in 1978, when the English Schools Track and Field Championships at Brookfield Community School helped stimulate local interest in athletics. Early summer training used the cinder track at Queens Park Annexe. The Derbyshire club moved its training base to Tupton Hall School in Old Tupton, England, in 2008.
Tupton provides a floodlit all-weather track, sports hall and gym, although the club uses other local tracks to host league matches. Its programme covers track and field, cross-country, road running and Sportshall. Young athletes and adults have routes into league competition, regional championships and open meetings.
Training is normally on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Members are accepted from age nine, and newcomers must arrange an induction by email before attending. Four trial sessions are available, with the normal session charge still payable. This is a competing athletics club: members are expected to represent it when selected. An Athlete Assistance Fund offers a route to discuss help with membership or equipment costs.
