About Cheddar RC
Cheddar Running Club traces its beginnings to Cheddar Valley Joggers, formed in 1989. Based in Cheddar, Somerset, England, it is run by volunteers and supports runners working towards anything from a first 5K to a marathon or longer event. The Mendip setting gives members both road and off-road routes close to home.
Tuesday is the structured training night. Summer sessions use the grass track behind Kings Leisure Centre; winter sessions meet at the centre entrance before heading onto Cheddar’s streets for hills, repetitions, fartlek or intervals. Thursday outings and weekend runs are informal arrangements between members rather than additional coached club sessions.
New runners can attend a Tuesday taster before applying through the membership portal. Adult and junior memberships are available, with or without England Athletics registration. Children must be supervised. For winter sessions the club asks runners to bring a reflective top and a small head torch.
