About Castlebar Tri club
Castlebar Tri Club is part of the triathlon community in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland. Its involvement in regional participation projects shows how local clubs can introduce swimming, cycling and running together, with support extending beyond established racers.
In 2019, Castlebar joined four other Mayo clubs, Triathlon Ireland and Mayo Sports Partnership in a New to Tri programme for women. After eight weeks of preparation, seventy-nine participants completed a first triathlon at Lough Lannagh in Castlebar. The pool swim, cycle and lakeside run were the conclusion of that joint programme, not evidence that the same course or timetable is offered every year.
A later Triathlon Ireland announcement named Castlebar member and accredited coach Brendan Fergus as the leader of its Mayo Social Hub beginning in May 2025. That initiative brought people interested in triathlon together for supported activity. Both projects are dated examples of participation and coaching. Prospective members should confirm the club's current training, joining arrangements and venues; neither historical event location is presented here as a permanent clubhouse.
