About Carn Runners
Carn Runners began in 1991 after Martin Eddy placed a newspaper advert asking about forming a local running club. Around fifteen people attended the first meeting at Broad Lane Chapel Hall in Illogan. The name came from nearby Carn Brea, giving runners from Camborne and Redruth a shared identity without favouring either town.
The Cornish club’s race developed from the Blaythorne 10 into the Stormforce 10 and, in 2026, the Trevithick 12K. Its history also records women’s team victories in the Cornwall Grand Prix in 2006 and 2007. Road racing remains part of club life alongside trail running, longer-distance events and social outings.
Wednesday club nights normally meet at Camborne Cricket Club on North Roskear Road at 6.30pm, ready to run at 6.45pm. Groups range from run-walk to faster running, with seasonal routes and occasional away nights. Membership is for adults aged 18 and over; prospective members can try four club nights and contact the club before their first visit.
