About Burnden Road Runners
Burnden Road Runners was founded in 1985 in Bolton, England. Its programme covers road and fell running, cross-country and track and field, with club championships and social activities alongside training. The club marked forty years in 2025 and continues to welcome both competitive runners and people building a regular running habit.
Monday evening groups meet at Smithills Sports Centre, with beginner and intermediate options as well as more demanding sessions. The free Tuesday community track session at Bolton Arena in Horwich welcomes different abilities, while Wednesday's One Foot on the Track uses Leverhulme Park. Runs are booked through RunTogether, and members also meet at Bolton parkrun and for informal weekend outings.
Burnden Tri adds a multisport community, social cycling and open-water swimming enquiries. Its page describes further coached swim and bike provision as planned, so those sessions should be confirmed rather than assumed available. Newcomers can contact the club about an appropriate running group or use the joining form. The main Monday groups expect runners to be able to cover three miles without stopping; beginner sessions provide a separate route into the club.
