About Bungay Black Dog RC

Bungay Black Dog Running Club grew from informal runs during the running boom that followed the first London Marathon. Its first organised run took place in 1981, followed by the first Bungay Marathon and club committee in 1982. The Black Dog emblem draws on the town’s Black Shuck legend.

The club owns Bungay Area Running Centre on Pirnhow Street in Ditchingham, with grass tracks, a clubhouse and junior facilities. Members use it for training alongside social and longer runs around the Waveney Valley. Club events include the Summer Series 10K races and Groggy Doggy cross-country, first held in 1984, while beginners can find an introductory route into running.
