About Bromsgrove and Redditch
Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club was formed in early 1962 when the two Worcestershire town clubs amalgamated. Frank Cardy became its first chairman, and founder members helped prepare the Abbey Stadium site for a cinder track in 1963. Those beginnings are distinct from the later all-weather facilities used by today's club in Bromsgrove and Redditch, England.
Coaching covers running, jumping and throwing, with junior development groups and senior sprint, distance and throws training. Abbey Stadium in Redditch and the Ryland Centre in Bromsgrove are separate training bases. Members represent the club in track-and-field, road and cross-country competition, including regional junior, senior and masters leagues. Social activities and an annual awards evening sit alongside the competitive programme.
The current membership page sets a minimum joining age of nine and offers two free taster sessions once a suitable coach and group are available. Some groups have waiting lists. Applicants should send the enquiry form before attending and confirm their coach's session time and venue. Regular attendance and competition for the club are membership expectations, rather than optional extras. The older history page's age-ten wording is not used in place of the current joining guidance.
