About Blyth Running Club

Blyth Running Club took shape after the first Great North Run and affiliated to the Amateur Athletic Association in December 1983. From its base at Blyth Sports Centre, it developed a year-round programme: road races and longer runs, winter cross-country and summer track and field. The club also organises events including the Blyth Sands Race and Autumn Relays, with an internal Grand Prix for members.

Runners can join for competition or simply for regular training and company. The club has senior and junior sections, a Couch to 5K programme and groups for a range of abilities. Monday and Wednesday club nights are described on its membership page, with longer runs on Sundays. Newcomers should check the current training schedule and contact the enquiries team, which can help identify the right group before a first visit.
