About Blackpool Wyre & Fylde AC
Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde AC was formed on 1 September 2006 through the merger of Blackpool & Fylde AC and North Fylde AC. Based at Stanley Park Arena in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, it provides opportunities across track and field, cross-country, road, trail and fell running.
The club welcomes athletes from age seven, from beginners through to international competitors. Its programme includes local and regional leagues, open meetings, sportshall competition and club road and trail challenges. The clubroom sits between the sports centre and the rear of the track stand, providing a useful first meeting point for enquiries.
Its historical pages remember sprinter Alf Meakin, who competed at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and won a European relay bronze medal in 1962. Those achievements belong to the earlier Blackpool athletics history, before the present club's merger. New members can use the application form or contact the club to discuss the appropriate coaching group and membership option.
