About Blackburn Harriers & AC
Blackburn Harriers and Athletic Club dates from 1883. After a post-war revival and early training at Pleckgate, the opening of Witton Park’s track in 1958 helped the Lancashire club develop. Invitation meetings brought leading athletes to Blackburn, while its own members built a record in track and field, cross-country, road racing and the fells. The arena gained a new outdoor track and indoor facilities in 2015.
The club’s history includes Olympic medallists Holly Bradshaw, Sophie Hitchon and Samantha Murray. Alongside that international record, Blackburn Harriers runs junior development and senior training groups and organises the Ribble Valley 10K. New members should use the club’s enquiry page to find the appropriate group, including its introductory run, jump and throw sessions for younger children.
