About Black Combe Runners
Black Combe Runners takes its name from the fell overlooking the southwestern corner of the Lake District in Cumbria, England. Members come from Ulverston, Broughton-in-Furness, Barrow and Millom, meeting for runs across the South Lakes rather than at one permanent track or clubhouse.
Tuesday evening social runs are open to guests and move between different starting points. The club also has a winter series of fell, trail and cross-country chases, road and fell championships, and a summer team challenge. Its race programme includes Black Combe, Caw, the Duddon Valley races, Dunnerdale and Kirkby Moor.
New runners can consult the calendar and join an outing before becoming members, bringing footwear and equipment suited to the fells. Membership is available through the club's Spond form, with an optional individual England Athletics affiliation for those who want it. A separate Thursday coached group in Broughton-in-Furness is also linked from the club website.
