About Birkenhead AC
Birkenhead Athletic Club grew out of a group of friends who had met for runs around the Causeway in Bebington since 1989. Jerry Williams encouraged them to form a recognised club, and the first formal meeting took place in his front room on 15 April 1995. Despite its name, the club's roots and regular training base are in Bebington, Wirral, England.
Tuesday sessions start and finish at the Royal British Legion on Teehey Lane at 18:30. Runs normally cover roughly six to ten kilometres, with groups adjusted to those attending. Longer Sunday outings are arranged separately through the members' messaging group. Reflective clothing or a head torch is encouraged for winter running.
The programme includes cross-country, the Borders League, multi-terrain races and club handicaps. The Tony Bobby 5K remembers one of the original running group's leading figures. Membership runs from May to April, but runners can join at any time by contacting the club email or its official social pages.
