About Ormeau Runners
Ormeau Runners is a community running group in South Belfast, Northern Ireland, with roots in a Jog Belfast beginners’ programme at Ormeau Park in 2015. A first-person account published by parkrun describes how graduates continued running together and developed a group with close links to parkrun participation and volunteering.
In its own 2024 description for Belfast City Council, the group explained how it helped people keep running after Couch to 5K. It described coached sessions at Ormeau Park, longer-distance goals, social runs and an accompanied walking option. Volunteers planned routes and supported activities ranging from Belfast races to festive runs and group outings.
Those accounts show the group’s emphasis on companionship and continuing participation, particularly among women who had not previously thought of themselves as athletes. They are dated accounts of its development, rather than confirmation of today’s timetable. Prospective runners should establish the current joining and meeting arrangements before attending; the club website was unavailable when this profile was reviewed.
