About Barrow & Furness Striders AC
Barrow & Furness Striders AC serves Barrow-in-Furness and the wider Furness Peninsula in Cumbria, England. Track and field, cross-country and road running are all part of its programme, with members ranging from young juniors to veteran runners.
Juniors can join from age eight. Summer competition includes the Cumbria and Mid Lancs athletics leagues, followed by cross-country in winter. Monday and Thursday training uses Furness Academy's athletics track from spring to autumn and St Bernard's School gym in winter. The website gives conflicting winter session times, so parents should confirm the current arrangements with the secretary.
The senior information page currently says there are no coached senior sessions, although a group still meets for runs and hill sessions. Adults can also join as non-training members for affiliation and competition. New athletes are offered trial attendance before committing; the public club email is the starting point for both junior and senior enquiries.
