About Barnet & District AC
Barnet & District Athletic Club serves north London with road running, cross-country and track and field for young athletes, adults and veterans. Its honours list records women’s English cross-country team titles in 1967, 1969 and 1974. The club still combines league competition with its own races, including the Golden Stag Mile and Fraternity and Sorority Cup cross-country events.
Adult running groups use New Barnet Leisure Centre for weekday sessions and Trent Park on Saturday mornings. Groups are organised by pace, with the Saturday programme including the steadier Red group. Sprint and throws sessions take place at StoneX Stadium. The young-athlete section covers ages nine to sixteen and moves between cross-country in winter and track and field in summer.
New runners can arrange taster sessions through the membership secretary, who puts them in touch with the appropriate coach. Club life also includes handicap races, training weekends, a magazine and social events. Will Morris, a member since 2010, helped establish both Oak Hill parkrun and the Golden Stag Mile.
