About Axe Valley Runners
Axe Valley Runners brings together runners from Seaton, Beer, Axminster and the surrounding East Devon and West Dorset countryside. Its club programme spans first steps through Couch to 5K, social running and longer-distance challenges, with a relaunched junior section and Run and Talk sessions. New members register through Spond and can use the club's enquiry form to find a suitable group.
The club is closely associated with the Grizzly, which began in Beer in 1988 with 27 runners on a six-mile course. As the race grew, its start moved to Seaton and a shorter Cub race was added in 1992. The non-profit event draws on local marshals and community groups and has raised money for charities and good causes. That race history is part of the club's identity, but taking on the Grizzly is certainly not a requirement for joining a weekly run.
